Chief of Staff Launches Capacity Building Programme for Regulatory Authorities and Agencies
On 12th September 2024, the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Felix Koskei, addressed Chairs of Boards, Chief Executive Officers and Internal Audit Heads from all Regulatory Authorities and Agencies at Kenya School of Government where he launched the Regulatory Authorities and Agencies Capacity Building Programme. The training initiative, targeting Board Chairpersons, Board Members, CEOs, Corporation Secretaries, and Heads of Internal Audit from Regulatory Authorities and Agencies (RAAs), aims to revitalise and strengthen Kenya’s regulatory framework.
The Chief of Staff praised the Kenya School of Government for its swift and strategic partnership with his office in developing the comprehensive training initiative. He described it as a critical tool for equipping regulators with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle the challenges of an evolving governance landscape. He also underscored the programme as a key blueprint for enhancing the efficiency, accountability, and transparency of RAAs, ensuring high standards in service delivery.
Key initiatives undertaken so far by the Office of Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service include the implementation of the Zero Fault Audit Campaign, aimed at enhancing the internal audit function within public institutions. At this event, he urged participants to take the training seriously, emphasising the importance of translating these lessons into action to meet public expectations of transparency and accountability from all public officers.
In closing, he reminded the audience of their responsibility to embrace the training with urgency and responsibility, noting that future generations are watching the transformation that this programme is set to inspire. He urged all Public Officers to avoid any wastage and avoid corruption by all means as any one caught with fingers in the cookie jar will be held individually responsible. He again asked them to utilise public resources prudently.
He then declared the training officially open, expressing high expectations for significant strides in reforming Kenya's regulatory bodies.
